Thomas Tuchel Questions Home Fan Atmosphere Despite Emphatic Wales Victory.

The England head coach expressed his disappointment that the Three Lions team did not get greater backing from the Wembley spectators during their impressive friendly win against Wales on Thursday evening.

The manager was happy to see his team showcase their winning momentum, with strikes from Morgan Rogers, Watkins, and Saka inside the first 20 minutes deciding the match. Yet, he was not content with the energy at the national stadium.

“With one and a half training days to prepare against a well-trained team and we performed excellently,” Tuchel remarked. “It could have been 5-0 up at the break. We couldn’t score the additional ones. It was quiet. We didn’t get any energy back from the stands. We did everything to win.”

“What more can you give in 20 minutes? We prevented them escape. If you hear just the Welsh supporters for half an hour, it’s disappointing because the squad deserved better encouragement today.”

“I stand by this statement. We cannot do more than leading three goals up in a derby. I would have wished for a bit more backing in periods where it gets difficult.”

“In the second half, to cheer us on, there was a bit too much support for Wales. It might have aided us to recharge, but it is what it is and so be it.”

Selection Choices Justified by Performance

Away from risking a fight with fans, Tuchel also caused a stir by omitting Bellingham and Phil Foden from his squad. But the choice was backed up by Morgan Rogers delivering another standout performance in the No 10 position and netting his maiden goal for his country.

“He is what he is,” the head coach explained. “He operates as an attacking midfielder and he is vying for his spot.”

Wales Manager Hopes for Improvement from Defeat

Craig Bellamy expressed hope that Wales, who face a strong Belgian side in a key World Cup qualifier on next week, take lessons from their disappointing performance in the opening period.

“This is why I scheduled this game,” the manager said. “I wanted to assess where we are. Where do we want to go? Who do we want to be? This performance gives me motivation.”

Injury Concern for Watkins

Watkins was taken off at the break after hitting a goalpost and is a concern when England face Latvia in the Latvian capital in a qualifier on Tuesday.
